Removing the bridge on old Harmony guitar

In my last blog I removed the neck on an old Harmony guitar now I’m going to remove the bridge.

At some point someone ground down the top of the bridge to make it playable, the second picture shows a new one in comparison.

Using an exacto knife break the finish edge.

There are different ways to heat to glue for removal, I use an iron.

Next a chisel to get the edge started.

Then working in from both sides.

Heating and reheating working toward the middle.

Now I’ll make a new bridge and reset the neck.
